Thursday, Jan 3

Engelina is here on the desk with me--picking at my fingers! What a sweetie. She is like a chinchilla--her fur is super soft. I hope to get both JoeBob and Engelina in next week at our vet's. JoeBob for his neutering and Engelina for her leg x-ray.

Big move today!  Both Gallant and Joyful progressed to their next level. They are both in Cat's Corner Room. Gallant, of course, has a long way to go yet in his burn recovery, but every day is showing improvements now! Joyful was out in Thumper's Room and the Welcome Room office with Gallant and Bondi, Big Al, Azar and Zavatar yesterday. She did great--didn't mind being with all these cats at all! She's been here for a few days now and I can already see an improvement. We just keep gently petting and talking to her.  We won't allow visitors in Cat's Corner Room, but the volunteers will of course be going in to be with them. They are both ready for this next step in increasing their awareness of FFRC.

It's cooooold outside! The horses, donkey and goats are doing good. We have all the heat lights and heat beds going full force. The barnies are toasty warm as are the Porchies and Covies. Our biggest weather-related problem is that we have frozen pipes in the bathroom and Thumper's Room. We will again work on this today, trying to get them unfrozen.

Pania and Miss Dove are still being friends. This absolutely makes me smile! To see them napping together in June's Room is really nice. Pania's confidence is soaring--she actually has been climbing up the tall yellow step-post and she hasn't fallen once. She "feels" alot with her front legs. Dove is also doing awesome. Since she has made friends with Pania, she seems so much more content. She even enjoys being picked up and loved on now! I believe she is 100% healed! She did it--she made it!! What a joy.

We had BOXES last night. I am very thankful.  Please know that this Rescue Center is totally grateful for the support shown.

Doce, the factory kitten, is doing good! What a very cute kitten he is. He snuggles right up to his stuffed mama cat that has a heater and beating heart in it! When I feed him, I also now give him a little time to toddle around on a towel. He's getting stronger!

Oh my--I saw something exciting. Jaina was climbing up the pole that has hemp rope on it. Yes, she was--straight up! Took her a bit, but she did it! Raza,Willard, Spruce and Telo are sitting on a shelf watching the birds. Miau is here on my desk now, rubbing on the monitor. I do believe these cats think that I must be able to see right thru them, as they love to block my view! Pushkiss is laying about 4 inches from my hand, swatting it each time I move a little closer to him! Last night, I saw the whole woodpile "kittens" laying close together--Spruce, Linden, Cypress and Buckeye. What a handsome group they make.

With this new year, the kitties and cats have decided that they will try very very hard to be friends with all. As people, I hope the same for us. Let's be kind to one another, show patience and understanding in facebook and chat. Show kindness to our mods and admins. If someone talks unkind of you or to you, make up for it by doing TWO nice things for someone else! We can't control what others say about ourselves, but we CAN choose how we let it affect us. Happy New Year!

Pushkiss--so absolutely cute!
