Friday, April 27, 2018 plus Catathon update!

Thanks ever so much for the successful Flash Sale that was yesterday!  This is always such a wonderful thing. I appreciate the people who made the items possible, those that purchased those items, our mods who help big time with this and of course Mich who comes here just to help us have fun and to raiser money for FFRC.  You all are wonderful.  Items will start going out today!

We had an adoption yesterday. Our visitors for the week--Wendy & Joe adopted Blippity. They have already adopted Cupid and Valentine from FFRC.  His new name shall be Tinsel. They are now home after a long drive home and Tinsel is doing good!

***** And now to CATATHON update! Pleae remember, this is not set in stone yet! As items come in, we may juggle things around and even put them in different areas! It all gets fine-tuned as we get things organized!  For the Catathon, we have BASKETS, SMALL BIG TICKET ITEMS, BIG TICKET ITEMS, BIG BIG TICKET ITEMS plus items for the CATATHON FUN-RAISER.  Sounds like a foreign language!  I'll also give you the number of where we are at for each Item--not to worry about "not being there" yet where we were last year.  We're still receiving and organizing!  And please know, if you are sending in item(s) for a basket that is marked full, it's absolutely fine! We can always add it!  *********

Our 2018 BASKETS.  Right now, we have 39 baskets being worked on.  (Last year we had 40)  We'll put at the end of each Basket, how much help we are still hoping to get!

Don't see something that you've sent?  Do not worry!  We have a table with items that we are holding on to yet for placement!  We will get "there"--where we need to be for Catathon. Your support for this has been a HUGE GIANT help!  And remember---things can change and items moved to a different area. It's all good!

In May, SonJa will be giving full descriptions of each entry. Jenny C will be taking pictures that will show everything.  This will all be posted in our website in plenty of time for you to check things out thoroughly! We'd love to have any items that you would like to send in, here at FFRC by May 17th.  This will help us get completely organized before SonJa and Jenny start their part.  Many many thanks!

Soon, we will also do a pre-registration for Catathon.  You do NOT need to pre-register but it sure helps us alot during the catathon (and helps you too!)  By pre-registering, this means the phone people do not have to get your complete info right then during the catathon. We can just check our pre-registration list for all of that! Saves time so we can do more calls!

Many thanks.....YOU are appreciated---
Colleen P--donation to FFRC
Janet K from Amsterdam--donation for support of FFRC
Maite De C--donation for the wonderful Paddy Brothers!
Melvin S Jr--donation to FFRC

Here's what's happening today at FFRC--we will do BOXES at 3:00.  But.....we will have several interruptions!  We will have an adoption approximately at 3:30 and two at 4:00.  So, we will start/stop BOXES as needed!  And we will show you the adoptions as well.  We have a bunch of boxes---thank you very very much!  So, we will start a bit early and get them done before, between and after adoptions!  Bring a snack, put your feet up and enjoy!

Here's what's happening tomorrow---We will have another adoption in the morning! Iggy will be leaving us. Also, FFRC will be at our local Pet Supply PLUS from 11:00 to 1:00. We'll be meeting and greeting people and handing out FFRC inf plus info on spays/neuters!  A good day!

Towards the end of the week, we will start letting some of the kittens that were spayed/neutered last Saturday go to their  new homes! We have a few scheduled already too for the following week.

Our new cat Stephie is doing wonderful. She fit right in and made friends with the other cats. A real nice personality.  Marie April is another nice cat--sweet, loves to be petted.

Calisynne is growing--wider, that is. She's an eating machine. I asked her if she could please hold off on having her babies until after this weekend! Hope she listens. I've even asked her to have a special color of kittens---a purple one!  She just keeps on purring! We've promised her this is her very last litter.

Each morning, we continue to let the doors clear back to the back Thumper's Room wide open so the kittens can go back and forth. The mothers too--they like to explore.  This is also these two mama's last litters. Emma Jane is already spayed and Jillian will be too soon.

Mama Calico Cat is here in the rescue center.  Her cancer on her face is definitely progressing. She is such a lovely cat---so beautiful and such a nice sweet girl.  We will keep track of this.   Annetta however is doing good with her cancer.  For now, things are calm with her in this matter. She too is a sweetie and has a huge purr motor!

Tomorrow is our Flash Sale day!  Come join the fun. Mich will be making her way to FFRC and should be ready to start at 2:37 pm!  That's what she's planning on--2:37!  She will require some kitty petting time too!

Take care and have a wonderful day.  60 more days to Catathon!

Sunday, April 22, 2018

A short blog with details about our surgery day yesterday!

A big thanks to Joyce D for the pizza lunch and to Gusti for the drinks for surgery day!

A big thanks to these volunteers too who lent a huge helping hand:  Becky M, Mary Braid, Donnajb, Gem, Sue B.

The boys who were neutered:
Bloppity, Diggles, JB TEnnessee, Jeff Bob

The girls who were spayed:
Marie April, Emmajane, Charmaine, Blippity, Iggy, Blu, Stephanie

We also did 2 neuters and 1 spay for the public plus helped another cat with a grooming that was needed.

All surgeries went very well. We have a new attachment to our monitor that allows us to have excellent readings on inspirations, heartbeat, EKG readings and oxygen level.

Our total spay/neuters now for 2018 is 334.  This includes 2 vouchers that was recently done.  The numbers break down to 186 spays and 148 neuters.

Tuesday we have a HumaneOhio surgery day.

We also did some physicals yesterday.
Paddy Purr--checked his nose. He has had a flare up of his nose recently. We will treat this with a long term antibiotics. He had a diagnosis of Eosinophil Granuloma back in 2013.

Annetta--she is doing surprisingly well! Very little growth of her cancer on her nose. The great thing is that her area where the eye was is not swollen with cancer growth! And her appetite is good and her disposition is pure happiness!

Binker--thyroid is good. She has had some weight loss.  Her physical appears normal but does have a 4/6 heart murmur. At this point, she is showing zero effects of that. We will just monitor her.

Giovanna--her stomatitis is at a minimum at the moment but this can flare up quickly and with a vengeance. The meds that help with this will be again given today and repeated in 2 weeks.  We are hoping that a higher dose will get this under control for a longer "quiet" time for her.

Spiker--has a dental scheduled already for 6/20.  It's the soonest we could get him in. He needs additional work on his K-9 teeth.

Coralie--she has bouts of vomiting still.  She can go days without vomiting and then have increased amounts.  We will change her meds as of this morning. Hoping this will give her better help. Her weight continues to be within 2 ounces of what it was over a year ago!

Callisynne--is indeed very pregnant. Time will tell on delivery schedule!

Derecho--a regular physical. All is good. In over 4 years, his weight stays within a pound. Consistency is good!

Alma--she was diagnosed with mega colon 1 1/2 years ago. After getting past that initial problem, she has not displayed any problems at all. However, in the last week, this has changed. While we have been working with her on this, it wasn't enough. Yesterday we sedated her and gave her an enema which produced a large amount of stool.  Starting today, we have changed her meds to better work with her mega colon.  She is in much better spirits this morning!

Our new cat Stephie is a doll.  So beautiful, great personality, purrs like a truck motor! Is a happy girl and is in the Main Area already.

Take care and have a super wonderful Sunday!

Saturday, April 21, 2018

We had honest to goodness sunshine yesterday!  Without a cloudy sky! It was wonderful!  Jones in PawMart would move along with the sunbeam. Porchies were rolling on their sidewalk in the sun. Covies were stretched out on their grass yard. I even saw the horses napping in the sun! It was all wonderful.  And even us humans made it outside to soak up those sunrays.

Today is our FFRC surgery day. We have a mix of FFRC cats/kittens and public cats. We'll try and keep you posted today as things are done.

And we have more thanks to give:
Ju-in-ji--donation for Thane and Gisela
JM41MD--donation in memory of his Tigercat

Esta Sparkle is doing great in her new home!  Pictures were sent and she looks so very happy! This is what makes every adoption exciting and rewarding!

We've also heard from the Dad that adopted Max and Rita. Both are doing wonderful.  Max who is now called Snowy had fractured a leg fairly soon after his adoption. But his new dad had him at the vets and then cared for Snowy. Max slipped trying to jump on a counter. His leg is strong and healed now.  He says they are both such sweet kittens!

We had a visit the other day from Kandan and Kubu and their mom. Sounds like these two are well loved and super fun and active! They have fit right into their new home!

We took  in a new cat.  Really, she's an older kitten. Her name is Stephie (a Name a Cat name).  She's 8 months old and is grey tiger with white. Stephie was found all by herself on a Country Rd.  She a sweetie, knows how to give loud purrs and is excited about coming out of her pen to rock and roll!  First, she will be on our surgery list today.

Our new cat Marie April is doing great. She acts like she's always been here. She loves to lounge on the shelves in the front Thumper's Room. Her bath and grooming were a good thing for her--she just looks so much better already.

Our cat car made a trip thru town yesterday! It's a fun car to drive.

Pania is the trainer and she has Kiara and Marilyn in training.  Pania has learned if she meows as different ones of us servants/humans comes by her, she gets her RC baby cat kibbles. She times it just right so we servants don't realize that she pulled the same trick 10 minutes ago with another servant. Now, when Pania gives "the cry meow", Kiara and Marilyn also appear--they are excellent students!  And us servants fall for it almost every time.

I'm having trouble today organizing my notes--the reason is because Eddie White is sprawled on my desk. What a far way this boy has come. It's pure joy to see him enjoying himself!

The water fountain is temporarily down in the Kabana.  Boo Boo has knocked it over two times already. He loves playing in water. The  water bowls are fun for him too though--he takes his paws and swishes the water until he makes tidal waves to spill out!

Jones, who is the bestest purrer anywhere, has something to say---"Remember, you can purr your way out of just about anything".   And he does!  Take care and have a great weekend.

Thursday, April 19, 2018

Gisela and Thane have fit right into the group of kittens. They think Jullian is their mama and that is ok with her. I love how all the kittens enjoy each other. Between having mamas to care for them and the fun of other kittens to play with and the love and caring of humans, these kittens make for great cuddly cats for families!

We took on a new cat on 4/17.  She is a long hair, gray and white with 4 white feet and the cutest face! She is 16 months old with a birthday of 12/2/16. What a nice young cat. She will be spayed this Saturday at our FFRC spay/neuter day. She was found at our Defiance College, probably someone no longer wanted her and left her there in hopes of her finding a home. She was brought here by a kind man. Her fur was very matted but she is mat-free now. A real people lover. Marie is a Name a Cat name and April is from the man who rescued her.

We had an adoption yesterday! Our beautiful flame-point Fiesta Esta Sparkle was adopted to a family. They have 2 other cats. This family waited 2 weeks to get Esta. She's a special girl---was left to fend for herself in the middle of winter and now......she has her own home!

We had BOXES last night. FFRC is very grateful to you!

We have surgery here this Saturday. FFRC doesn't have a full schedule because of the lightweights of the kittens.
So far, we have: (adults)  Emma Jane, Charmaine, Marie April  Will probably hold off on Jillian as she is very thin. Health and safety comes first.
Kittens: (probably--will reweigh Saturday morning)--Blippity, Bloppity, Blu, Diggles, Iggy, JB, Jeff Bob.
Because of the light FFRC schedule, we have also opened this up to a certain amount of spays/neuters for the public.  We don't want to go too far overboard as we have physicals too to do that day.

You may have noticed that Callisynne is missing from the surgery schedule. There's a reason for that---she is very pregnant so we will not do her spay yet. But, guaranteed, this is her last litter!

I've been asked to do a Catathon round up on updates! Here  it is! But, remember, things change here as we continue to organize this event.  If you don't see your item listed, no worries.  We simply have not placed everything yet!  And if you send in items on something that is marked alredy full, that is just fine!  We just keep adding on!

Our 2018 BASKETS.  Right now, we have 33 baskets being worked on.  (Last year we had 40)  We'll put at the end of each Basket, how much help we are still hoping to get!

Snow....sleet......wind..........are we sure it's mid April? When Donna left this morning, she text me.....needed help and a net.  She spotted 60 robins with suitcases, heading south.  We grabbed the net, got them back on the farmyard and tossed their suitcases in a shed.  And then we noticed there was a cluster of robins busily knitting. There was a line of robins standing in line, waiting for little leggings to be made for their bare legs.  I even saw the chickens in line waiting for their leggins.  Really....it won't be long until the sunshine and warmth is here!  And what a beautiful spring we will have!

Our 2 newly adopted cats--Grizzabella and Fanella are doing wonderful! Happy family, happy cats!

The doors were wide open this morning---from the back Thumper's Room, clear up front. It took about 10 seconds for the first of the kittens to zoom into the Main Area. They are brave and confident! Even both mamas came up.  Now.......to get them to to go back to their back Thumper's Room for the day is going to take some time!  They know what it is now to be in the entire area. But, we want to be safe and not have any babies stepped on.

The two new kittens, Thane and Gisela are doing good.  Sometimes they snuggle with Jillians kittens inside the pool and sometimes with the bit bigger kittens.  They are both eating good. Jillians kittens are getting more active and know how to topple out of the pool. They still remain inside the pool though, most of the time (at least for now!).  Their fur is becoming a bit longer, like their mama.

Did you know that cats sleep about 16 hours a day? They prefer "cat naps" but when they do sleep deeply, their brain wave patterns are similar to the ones humans produce when dreaming.

And....here's another Giggle Scene--it's #22. Wow---Many thanks to Derecho who is the director.  Pleaes click the like/thumbs up button youtube as it helps generate more $$ for FFRC.  https://youtu.be/ql_Cx4g3WmQ

Ramsay is doing great and is back to our sweet boy.  Jones too is doing great and meeting and greeting everyone at the door again in PawMart!  Lucie still loves to eat! Derecho spent time last night and this morning chasing his tail. Charmaine loves to give little chirps and kisses.  Annetta is holding her own as is Mama Calico Cat. Elsie is as ornery as ever! Giovanna ate a good breakfast. Life is good!

Coralie.......she's full of wisdom and wanted this passed on----"Too often we underestimate a smile, a kind word,  a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." (Leo Buscaglia)  Always step up and do that act that has the potential of changing a life.
